Courage to Resist – Free Bradley Manning
- We explore…and you call us criminals. We seek after knowledge…and you call us criminals. We exist without skin color, without nationality, without religious bias…and you call us criminals. You build atomic bombs, you wage wars, you murder, cheat, and lie to us and try to make us believe it's for our own good, yet we're the criminals. Yes, I am a criminal. My crime is that of curiosity. My crime is that of judging people by what they say and think, not what they look like. My crime is that of outsmarting you, something that you will never forgive me for. I am a hacker, and this is my manifesto. You may stop this individual, but you can't stop us all. - The Mentor

I don’t understand why you think the miirlaty has no due process. The services can’t roll around and do whatever they want: they’re civilian controlled a fundamental tenet of our whole society.Have you ever heard of a congressional ? It’s what the miirlaty calls an inquiry from a member of congress that results from an enlisted servicemember complaining about something to their congressman. Congressionals are treated with the utmost seriousness when they’re received they have to be responded to and a reasonable attempt made to address the problem. To ignore one would have serious repercussions up and down the command line, resulting in anything from your career grinding to a halt to a court martial. It’s one of the many ways that a civilian, elected by other civilians, exercises restraint on what the miirlaty does. I know movies like Full Metal Jacket can give people the impression it’s okay to scream yourself hoarse and beat the shit out of someone for not doing something correctly, but the reality is much more complicated.I could drone on and on but this is already drifting into the too long, didn’t read category. Suffice it to say, Manning has rights he is unwaveringly afforded, regardless of what he’s accused of doing.
